Three teenagers talk about their morning routines
Daniel
Daniel always wakes up at half past six, which is quite early. He brushes his teeth and changes clothes before going downstairs to have breakfast. His father usually makes warm eggs and bread for him, and then Daniel catches the bus to school. Before going to sleep at night, he always puts his books in his bag, which makes him ready quickly in the morning. He loves the way he starts the day.
Charles
Charles usually gets up at seven o'clock, and he often makes a simple breakfast for himself. Then he has to wake his younger brother up, because the boy loves sleeping! Charles really enjoys a quiet house in the morning, so he never turns on the radio while he packs his school bag. After they finish eating, the two brothers walk to school together. It takes twenty minutes, and they often talk about football on the way. They often arrive before half past eight.
Gavin
Gavin gets up at six o'clock to go for a short run in the park. After that, he feels really hungry, so he eats lots of sweet fruit and some cereal. He usually packs his school bag while he is eating, which means he sometimes forgets things! Gavin's dad drives him to school before going to his office, and they always listen to loud music in the car. Gavin prefers this to catching a bus. It is much faster!

Jin's blog: our film night
The only cinema in our town closed last year, so my friends and I had no place to watch films together. One day I asked my teacher, Mrs Clark, 'Can we show a film in the school playground?' She laughed and said, 'Good idea! But first you must find twelve people to help you.'
Next we looked for the things we needed. Dan's uncle had a big screen, and he said we could borrow it for the night. Mrs Clark found some chairs in the school hall, and my sister Mina made a poster, which we put up in the library. The film was going to be from seven to nine o'clock.
On the day, big grey clouds came over the school, and Dan said, 'It will rain. Nobody wants to sit outside in the rain!' I looked at my sister Mina, who always checks the weather on her phone. 'Don't worry,' she said, 'because it won't start before ten o'clock tonight.'
At seven o'clock, only five people were sitting in the playground, and I felt worried. But then families began to arrive with food and warm clothes. By eight o'clock, there were nearly thirty people! We showed an old funny film about a dog, and everybody laughed a lot.
Now people in town keep asking when the next film night will be, and Mrs Clark says we can have one every month. Dan's uncle is happy to lend us his screen again. I'm very tired, but I'm really happy with our evening.
Why did Jin ask Mrs Clark about a film?
Who helped the group get a big screen?
What does Mina's answer show about the rain?
How did Jin feel at eight o'clock?
What do we learn about future film nights?
