Sam,
Thanks for inviting me to do the swimming course with you – that sounds great! I’d prefer the weekend classes if that’s alright with you, and Thursday isn’t good for me because I have basketball practice that day. Of course we should pick the beginners’ group!
Text me on 07912-345678 if there's a problem.

Three music concerts to go to this weekend
The Blue Stars
The Blue Stars are a local rock band, and their concert is on Saturday in the city park. The show starts at seven o'clock in the evening. Visitors can buy hot dogs and cold drinks from small shops near the entrance. The tickets cost £15 for everyone, which is quite cheap. When the concert finishes, the musicians always come down from the stage to chat and take photos with their fans.
Danny Ocean
Danny Ocean is a famous pop singer from Canada, and he is singing at the Royal Theatre this weekend. The doors open at eight o'clock in the evening, but visitors should arrive early. A regular ticket costs £20, but students pay a lower price if they show their college card. You cannot buy band T-shirts here because they only sell them online. Every person gets a free glass of fruit juice when they walk in. Danny is very busy. He always leaves quickly after his last song.
Forest Road
Forest Road is a dance music group, and they are playing inside the new sports hall. The concert begins at four o'clock, so it won't finish late. However, children under twelve cannot go inside. You cannot bring food or drinks into the hall. When you arrive, there is a large desk selling hats and T-shirts with the band's name at the front gate. Their music is famous everywhere, so the tickets often sell out quickly.
Which concert offers cheaper tickets for people who are studying?
Which concert takes place outside a building?
At which concert can visitors buy something to wear?
Which concert has a singer from a different country?
Which concert is closed to young children?
At which concert can people talk to the band members?

Leo's Move to a Village School
My family moved from a big city to a small village in the mountains because my mum has a new job there. I did not want to leave my friends. On the night before my first day, I was a little scared because I did not know anybody at the new school.
The next morning, I walked to school with a girl called Tara, who lives on my road. The school is very small, with only sixty students, so everybody knows everybody. Tara showed me the way and told me about her favourite teacher, Mr Evans.
Our class has twelve children of different ages, and Mr Evans teaches us all. He teaches maths, English, music and sport, and on sunny days we have our lessons outside. Some of the children are only seven years old, so I often help them with their reading.
On Friday, our class went to the river to learn about fish. I wanted to see everything, so I went too close and fell into the water! Everybody laughed, but Tara came and gave me her coat, and then Mr Evans took me home in his car.
That evening, I felt cold and tired. The next day, I had a bad cold, so I stayed in bed all weekend. I kept thinking about Tara and wanted to thank her.
On Monday morning, I met her on the road, and we walked to school together again. I gave her the clean coat and some cookies and said, “Thank you for your help!” Tara smiled and asked, “Are you feeling better now?” I felt happy because I finally had a good friend at my new school.
Why was Leo unhappy about the move?
He did not like living in the mountains.
He was afraid of meeting his new teacher.
He had no friends at the new school.
Which sentence is NOT true about Leo’s class?
What can we understand about Tara?
Which sentence is NOT true about events on Friday?
What did Leo do that weekend?
He was busy preparing cookies.
He met Tara and gave back her coat.
