Last Saturday morning, Sophia told her parents, "I want to cook something special for Mum's birthday! We have lots of food in the (0) fridge, so we don't need to go to the shop."

Camels are large animals that are called "(0) ships of the desert" because people ride them across the deserts.

What is so about camels? They don't need to drink water often. They can go for many days water! When they find food and water, they eat and drink a lot. Their bodies this food and water to use later when there is nothing.

Camels have special bodies help them live in hot deserts. They have long hair around their eyes. This hair does not sand and sun hurt their eyes. Their are big and help them walk on soft sand. When the wind blows sand , camels can close their noses sand cannot get in.

Camels are very important to people. These animals carry people and heavy bags on long journeys through the hot desert. Desert families also get milk and meat from their camels.

The Surprise in the Lake

One sunny morning, Ben and his dad went fishing at a lake in the woods near their house. The air was clean and it was a little foggy. Many birds flew in the sky, and butterflies flew around the flowers.

Ben ran to the lake. The water was very clear. He looked down and could see some stones at the bottom.

They took a small boat to the middle of the lake and started their fishing. Ben and Dad whistled and waited. Suddenly, something heavy pulled Ben's line!

"Dad! I think it's a huge fish!" shouted Ben.

He pulled and pulled, and something came out of the water. But it wasn't a fish – it was an old, dirty shoe!

"What is this?" said Ben. He felt sad.

Ben put the shoe in the boat and threw his line in the water again. This time, something pulled hard. Ben was excited, but it was only an old bike wheel!

"Why is this in the water?" asked Ben.

"Sometimes people throw old things here," said his dad.

Ben was a little bored, but he stood up and waited again. After a few minutes, he caught a fish! It was longer and bigger than his leg, and his dad had to help him lift it from the water.

"Well done, Ben!" Dad said.

They took a photo together. In the afternoon, they went home and cooked the fish for dinner.

Hi Emma,

Thank you so much for inviting me to your birthday party last Saturday. I had a great time!

Everything was wonderful. The balloons and lights made the room beautiful. The chocolate cake was delicious. It may the best cake I've ever eaten! I also really enjoyed the music and danced with everyone.

favorite part was playing the party games. It was so much fun, and I loved how we made a team and together. It was really exciting when our group found the prize!
