A Day with Officer Dad

David's dad is a police officer. David thinks his job is very dangerous and exciting. One Saturday, Dad took David to the police station for "Kids' Day."

At the station, Dad showed David his office, his uniform, and his police car. David sat in the driver's seat and took a photo with his dad in the car! He felt very happy.

Then Dad's friend, Uncle Harry, showed David the police dogs. The dogs were very fast and clever. They could find things and do what police officers told them to do. David was excited!

But then Dad showed David something different. There was a room which was full of computers. "Most of the time I work with computers," Dad explained. "I send information, answer phone calls, and help people with their problems. It's not always exciting like in movies."

Dad told David how he helped a child find his parents the week before. He had to watch many camera videos and make many phone calls.

Later, they visited Mrs. Park, an old lady who lived in a small house. Dad repaired her door and television. "Please be careful and stay inside at night," he said to her.
