Peter's Pool Party

Peter wanted to have a pool party for his birthday. He made a list of friends to invite. His mom said six friends were a good number. She could watch them in the pool. Peter made six invitations at home and gave them to his friends at school.

David, Ben, Oliver, Robert, and Tom were very happy. They said, "Yes, we will come!" Peter gave the last invitation to Fred. Fred smiled, but he looked worried. Peter knew that something was wrong.

That evening, Peter's mom got a phone call from Fred's mom. After the call, she talked to Peter. "Fred really wants to come to your party. He thinks you're a good friend."

"So what's the problem?" Peter asked.

"Fred can't swim very well," his mom said. "He is worried about the water. He thinks the other boys will laugh at him."

Peter understood now. "Mom, I won't do that bad thing. He's my friend. And I believe other boys won't, too." Peter said.

Peter and his mom had an idea. Everyone would play in the smaller pool only. Then Fred could have fun too. He wouldn't feel scared.

The party day came. Fred came to the party and everyone had a great time. Peter's party was wonderful.
