A Football Field for the Children
Sarah's mom worked at the small sports center in their town. She made activities there and helped families. Many children came to the center every day to play games and have fun.
Sarah and her friend Emma loved playing football. But there was a problem. The center only had a small yard with trees. When many children wanted to play football, there wasn't enough space. It was difficult to run and kick the ball without hitting the trees or other children.
One day, Sarah and her mom were talking at dinner. "We need a football field at the center," Sarah said. Mom agreed, but said, "I'm sorry, Sarah. The center doesn't have enough money to build one." "We'll get the money!" said Sarah.
Sarah and Emma made wonderful postcards at home and added some drawings of footballs on them. Sarah's mom also helped them. Then, every weekend, they sold the postcards to people who visited the center. The girls got some money, but it wasn't enough to build a football field.
Then, in June, a journalist heard about Sarah and Emma's project. He wrote about the two girls in the town newspaper. A kind businessman read the story and thought it was wonderful. He gave the center enough money to build a nice football field.
