Emma's Homework
It was Monday morning. Emma arrived at school and went to her classroom. She sat down at her desk. The math teacher, Mrs. Brown, said, "Good morning, class. Please take out your homework."
Emma opened her school bag and looked inside. She looked for her homework, but she couldn't find it! Emma felt very worried. She had done all her homework on Sunday evening. She had worked hard for one hour. But now it wasn't in her bag!
"Oh no!" Emma thought. "Mrs. Brown will be angry with me!" Her face went red. She looked in her bag again, but the homework was still not there.
Emma's best friend Helen sat next to her. Helen saw that Emma looked upset. "What's wrong?" Helen asked quietly. "I can't find my homework!" Emma whispered. "I did it yesterday, but I can't find it now!"
"Let's look together," Helen said. They searched in Emma's school bag carefully - nothing.
Then Helen had an idea. "Did you check your lunch bag?" she asked. Emma opened her lunch bag. There, next to her sandwich, was her homework! "I found it!" Emma said. She remembered now - she put it there that morning when she was preparing her lunch.
Emma quickly took her homework to Mrs. Brown. "Here is my homework, Mrs. Brown," she said. Mrs. Brown smiled and said, "Well done, Emma. Good work!"
Emma felt so happy. After that day, Emma always looked inside her school bag twice before she left home. She also put her homework in a special folder now, so she never had to look for it again!
