The Sandwich

The Guitar Lesson

It was Saturday morning. David sat with his friend Anna in her living room. Anna was practicing the guitar for the school festival. David watched her play and said, "I want to learn guitar too!" Anna smiled and answered, "You can borrow my old guitar and I'll teach you!" She gave David her old brown guitar and taught him some easy lessons.

David was very excited and practiced every day after school. At first, it was difficult. His fingers hurt, and he had to use some bandages. The sounds were also terrible! Sometimes David felt angry and wanted to stop. But Anna said, "It is only hard at first. Practicing more will help you get better!"

After two weeks, something great happened. David could play a simple song - 'Happy Birthday!' He was so excited. His mom's birthday was coming soon, so he decided to prepare a surprise for her.

On his mom's birthday evening, the family sat at the dinner table. After they finished eating the cake, David stood up with his guitar. "I have something special for you, Mom," he said. He started to play 'Happy Birthday.' At first, his hands shook a little, but then he played all of the song!  Everyone clapped loudly. Mom's eyes were a little wet as she said, "That was wonderful! Thank you so much!"

From that day on, he practiced guitar every day in his room. Anna was happy with her student and said, "You're learning so fast, David!" David felt so pleased. He wanted to be a part of a band one day, just like his favorite artists.
