Tom's Homework

Tom was a good student who always finished his homework. One Saturday evening, he finished all of his math homework carefully. He was very pleased because it was difficult. After he looked at his answers again, he went to bed.

On Monday morning, Tom was ready to leave. He wanted to see his homework one more time. But when he opened his backpack, the homework was not inside! Tom was very surprised. "Where is it?" he thought.

He looked everywhere—on his desk, under his bed, and on his shelf. Nothing! His mother asked, "What's wrong?" Tom said, "I can't find my homework!" She helped him find.

"Maybe it's in the car," Tom thought. He ran outside and looked in the car, but he couldn't find it. Tom felt very worried.

At school, his teacher asked, "Tom, where is your homework?" Tom's face was red. "I'm sorry. I finished it, but I can't find it," he said. He started to cry a little. The teacher said, "Okay. Search for it one more time at home and bring it tomorrow."

After school, Tom arrived home with a sad face. His little sister, Emma, ran to him with a big smile. "Tom! I found your homework! It was under Dad's table!" she said.

Tom looked—it was his math homework! Last night, he showed it to his dad in his room and left it there!

He laughed. "Thank you, Emma!"

Right after that, Tom put his homework in his backpack. He learned to be more careful with his things. He didn't want his homework to disappear again!
