David's Picture

David loved to draw, but he thought he was not good at drawing. That month, his school would have an art competition. David wanted to join, but then he heard that many excellent students would join too.

David looked at his pictures at home. "They are terrible!" he said and started to cry. He felt very worried.

His best friend Helen came to visit him. "Don't be sad, David," she said. "Let's explore the woods on Sunday. There is a stream, and we can draw something fun together."

Then they cycled to the woods. They talked and played near the stream and had a great time. The weather was beautiful and sunny.

Suddenly, David saw something amazing. There were many butterflies which were flying near the stream! The sun, the water and the trees around made the view wonderful.

"This is so beautiful! I want to remember this," David said. He took out his paper and paints and started to draw.

David worked carefully. He drew the butterflies, the stream, and the trees. The colors looked lovely and happy.

On competition day, David showed his picture to the teachers. "Wow! The colors are wonderful. I think I'm in the woods at the moment," one teacher said.

David got third prize! He was so happy. After the competition, he gave the picture to Helen. "Thank you for helping me," he said with a big smile.
