Alice's bad dream

Alice was really excited about her family holiday on a wonderful island. Their plane was going to leave at nine o'clock in the morning. But when she woke up today, the clock showed it was already half past eight! She got dressed quickly, packed her suitcase and ran out of the house. She didn't have enough time to brush her hair or take her favourite teddy bear.

Alice ran to the street corner to catch a taxi, but all the taxis were full of people. 'I will take the train,' she thought. 'It is fast, so I can still reach the airport on time.' She ran into the station and bought a ticket. But when she got to the platform, the train closed its doors and left! Alice looked at a screen and saw that the next train was in forty minutes.

Then Alice looked at the station clock. It was already ten o'clock! She was too late for the plane. 'Somebody help me, please! I want to go on holiday!' she shouted.

Suddenly, Alice heard her mum's voice. 'Alice, what's the matter? Are you having a bad dream?' Alice opened her eyes in her quiet bedroom. 'Mum, we missed our plane!' she said. Her mum smiled. 'It's only Friday night, Alice. We are flying tomorrow!' Alice realised it was just a dream. She felt very happy and closed her eyes to sleep again.
