My name is Jack. In the summer, my family often stays in a lovely house near the sea. The beach is a really wonderful place, and we love spending our holidays there. There is always white sand and beautiful blue water to swim in.

Last Tuesday, it was a very day, so my brother and I put on our shorts and ran down to the beach. We wanted to build a big sandcastle together! We lots of wet sand from the water. Then, we made some high walls and put small on top of them. We played happily in the sand all afternoon until it was time for dinner.

A special board game

During the summer holidays, David and his sister Sophia spent a lot of time in the large park near their home. They enjoyed learning about the different plants there. One afternoon, Sophia said, "Let's make a fun new board game. Players can learn how to look after our planet while they play!" David thought this was a brilliant idea.

The children spent two weeks working on their game. Because the game was about helping the planet, they didn't buy anything to make it. They used pieces of old wood and plastic bottles. They drew beautiful pictures of forests and animals, and wrote exciting questions. When the game was ready, they showed it to their mother. "This is excellent," Mum said. "It looks just like a game from a toy shop!"

Their friends loved playing the game. A few days later, a journalist from a television channel heard about it and visited their house. He thought it was amazing that the children used old things to make such a clever game. He asked them some questions and filmed them playing it. After the programme was on TV, the children's teacher phoned them. "We are having a school festival next month," he said. "Could you bring your wonderful game to show everyone?" The children happily agreed.
