The clever mountain goat
Last winter, Emma and Tom went to stay at their Uncle Ben's house in the mountains. One morning, the weather was very cold and snowy. Uncle Ben sat in the living room and drank hot tea by the fire. The two children went outside to the garden. They played in the snow and made a big snowman.
Then, Tom saw a path near the house. It went into a forest at the bottom of the mountain. The forest was very quiet. Tom said, 'Let's walk in there and look for some wild rabbits. Come on, Emma! I'll go first.' The children walked into the forest, but soon a lot of fog came.
The children couldn't see the path to go home. They felt very afraid and cold in the forest. Suddenly, Emma heard a noise. It was a white goat! The mountain animal was very clever. It walked slowly in front of them and showed them the way out of the forest.
