Bats

The rainy afternoon
Emma’s school is not very far from her house. Usually, she and her mother enjoy walking home together in the afternoon. But last Tuesday, the weather suddenly changed. While they were walking past the park, a strong wind started to blow. Then, heavy rain began to fall from the dark sky. Mum opened her big red umbrella, but the wind was too strong and quickly blew it away!
"Oh no! We are going to get very wet!" Mum shouted. Luckily, they were standing on High Street, which was very close to Aunt Mary’s famous cake shop. "Let's run inside!" said Mum. They hurried across the street and pushed the heavy glass door of the shop open. Aunt Mary was very surprised to see them. "You poor things!" she said. She quickly went to the back of the shop and brought them some dry towels.
After they dried their hair, Aunt Mary made a large cup of hot chocolate for each of them. She also brought out a plate of warm chocolate cookies that she just cooked. Emma thought they were the most delicious cookies in the world! Half an hour later, the rain finally stopped. Emma walked outside the shop and looked up at the sky. She saw a beautiful rainbow over the tall city buildings. "What a wonderful end to a wet day!" she smiled.
