The amazing sand ship

Last weekend, Betty and her younger brother, William, went to the beach with their parents for the day. It was a lovely warm morning and the sky was very blue. When they arrived, they saw a big poster on the sand. It said, 'Sand Art Competition Today!' The two children were very excited and decided to join the fun competition.

They didn't want to build a boring sandcastle. "Let's make a large pirate ship!" said William. They worked very hard near the water for three hours. William made the long sides of the ship with wet sand, and Betty found lots of beautiful white shells to make the small windows. They also used an old red scarf for the flag. It looked really amazing.

Suddenly, a little black dog ran along the beach and ran to their wonderful ship. Betty quickly caught the naughty dog before it broke their work. A friendly young woman ran after the dog. She said sorry to the children and bought them both some chocolate ice cream because they were so kind.

At four o'clock, a tall man came to look at all the art on the beach. He smiled when he saw the children's wonderful pirate ship. "This is the best thing here today!" he said. He gave Betty and William the first prize, which was a fantastic new camera. The children felt very pleased and ran to show the prize to their parents.
