Fridges

Almost every new kitchen in the world (0) has a fridge today. It is a very important machine because it keeps our food cold and good to eat.

A long time ago, before people fridges, they had to go to the market every day. They could not keep meat or milk for days because the food got bad quickly in warm weather.

Sometimes, rich families used pieces of ice to keep meals cold. Inside a fridge today, there are different shelves you can put bottles of water, fruit, and vegetables.

You always make sure the door is closed carefully. If you leave it open, the inside gets warm, the machine will have to work much harder.

Fridges can also make ice. This is great for cold drinks the weather is hot. Today, families buy a lot of food at the same time. They carry the food home and put it into the fridge, so they don't have to go again the next day. Life would be very difficult this amazing machine!

Daisy's painting

Last week, there was a big painting competition at Daisy's school. To get ready, Daisy painted in her bedroom every evening because she really wanted to win a prize. On Friday morning, she put all her paints in her rucksack. But she had to run to catch the school bus, so she forgot something very important.

After lunch, all the students went to the large school hall for the competition. When Daisy opened her rucksack, she felt awful. "Oh no! I left my paintbrushes on my desk at home!" she thought. She was very worried because she couldn't paint her picture without them. Her friends started painting quickly. Daisy just sat in her chair and she was very sad.

Then, Daisy had a brilliant idea. She remembered the plastic fork inside her lunchbox! She took it out and started putting the paint on her paper with it. She used her fingers to make green trees and the fork to make yellow grass. It was a very unusual way to paint, but it looked great.

Later, the art teacher walked around to look at everyone's pictures. He stopped next to Daisy and smiled warmly. "This is wonderful," he said. "You didn't use normal brushes, but your picture of a forest is the best!" Daisy was the winner and she felt really happy. She couldn't wait to tell her parents about her amazing day.

Daisy practiced every evening because she hoped to in the competition.

On Friday morning, Daisy had to run to .

For the competition, the students went to the after lunch.

Dear Robert,

I had an amazing afternoon yesterday! After school, I went to my sports club and our coach showed us the new pool. He was very proud of it! We played football on the field first and my team won the game. We couldn't it! After that, I asked my lto go to the park to play badminton me. But Dad said I to clean my dirty shoes before dinner. It was already seven when I finished, so we watched a cartoon on TV. What an interesting show!

I hope next weekend is more fun!

Jack.
