A special present for Grandpa
Next Sunday was Grandpa's birthday. Oliver wanted to buy him something very special. After school on Wednesday, Oliver walked to the new market in the town square. He looked at lots of different shops, but it was hard to find the perfect present. Grandpa didn't want clothes or shoes. He loved reading about history and exploring the countryside.
Suddenly, Oliver saw a small shop between a café and a flower shop. An old woman was selling some interesting things there. Oliver saw a large mental box on a table. Inside the box, there was an old map. "That looks interesting," Oliver said. "What is it?" The woman smiled. "It's a map of the mountains near our town," she explained. "But it's very old, so it shows some secret paths that people don't use now."
Oliver carefully picked up the map. The paper felt very thick, and the drawings on it were beautiful. Oliver thought about Grandpa. He loved going for long walks in the mountains on sunny weekends. This map was the perfect present! "How much is it?" asked Oliver. "It's usually ten pounds, but you can have it for five pounds," said the friendly woman.
Oliver gave the woman his money and put the map in his backpack. When Grandpa opened his present on Sunday, he was very surprised. "I've never seen these paths before!" Grandpa said happily. "We must explore them tomorrow!"
