On Sunday afternoon, Ben and his little brother, Sam, went to visit their Aunt Mary's house. Aunt Mary was very happy to see them and made some pancakes for the boys to eat. Sam was very excited because he brought a new red kite with him. He wanted to fly it in the large garden behind his aunt's house.
Aunt Mary had a very big, fat cat called Oscar. Sam was afraid of cats and didn't like them. He started to shout loudly. "Please keep that animal away from my beautiful kite!" he said. But Oscar didn't look at the toy. The fat cat only wanted to sleep quietly in the warm sun.
The two brothers went into the garden and began to play. The wind was blowing very strongly. Suddenly, the red kite flew into a tall apple tree. Sam started to cry. "Oh no! My new kite won't come down! I can't reach it!" he said sadly. Ben tried to jump and get it, but the tree was too high.
The loud boys woke Oscar up. The clever cat quickly climbed up the tall tree. He pushed the kite with his foot, and it fell down safely onto the grass. Sam stopped crying and smiled. "Oscar is a very kind cat!" Sam said happily. Then, the little boy gave the cat some fish to say thank you.
