A trip to the zoo

Last week, Emma's teacher, Mr. White, took her class on a wonderful trip to the city zoo. When they arrived, he gave everyone a small map. "Have fun, children!" he said. "But you must meet me at the front gate at two o'clock. Please don't be late!" Emma didn't have a watch, but her best friend Lily had a phone.

First, Emma and Lily went to see the monkeys. The animals were climbing high in the trees and eating yellow bananas. The two girls thought they were very funny. After that, they felt hungry. Suddenly, Lily pointed to a huge ice cream van near the café. "Let's get something sweet to eat!" she said. They quickly ran over there.

There were many kinds of ice cream, like chocolate, strawberry, and lemon. They took a very long time to choose because everything looked delicious. In the end, Emma got a chocolate ice cream and Lily bought a strawberry one. They were so happy and just forgot to check the time! Suddenly, Lily looked at her phone and shouted, "Oh no! We're late!"

They ran fast to the front gate. When they arrived, they saw their school bus driving away. The girls felt terrible. But then, they saw Mr. White. He was still waiting by the gate with an angry face. They quickly said sorry to him. He was cross, but he took them back to school on another bus.
