Last Saturday, Clare’s family went to the zoo. They saw the tall giraffes which ate leaves on top of the tree. Then, they walked to see the monkeys. Their long tails moved quickly when they up and down. Clare had a banana but she mustn’t feed the monkeys.

Next, Clare wanted to see the big grey elephants. One elephant was in the water because the weather was hot on that day. 

Everyone started to get hungry. They went to the zoo . Dad bought sandwiches and some apples for Mum and Clare. The food was really good!

After that quick lunch, they walked to a big lake. Some ducks swam on the water and green frogs in the grass. And Clare didn't talk too loudly. She only watched the animals

At the end of the day, Dad drove them home. ‘That was a really great !’ said Clare. ‘Yes, it was!’ said her parents.

Comic books are easy to read and have got a lot of pictures. There many different kinds of comic books. Some are very short and some are long. The stories in comic books are usually very exciting. It's often about a strong man or woman is very good at running and jumping. They want the city and sometimes the world. Some comic books tell stories about school, friends, or families. Children like comic books. People can buy comic books in a small shop or find in the library. 

Look at the pictures and read the story. Write some words to complete the sentences about the story. You can use 1, 2 or 3 words.

Max's new shoes

Max had a problem. His old shoes were too small. He couldn't run well in them.
'Mum, my shoes are too small! I need new ones for school,' Max said one morning.
'Okay, Max. Let's go to the shopping centre on Saturday,' said his mum.
