Last Sunday, Daisy and Grandpa went to the lake. Grandpa had a new toy boat with a big white .

‘I can teach you,’ said Grandpa. He put the boat on the water.

The weather was windy and when he moved his hands from the boat, the boat went very ! ‘Wow!’ said Daisy. ‘That is easy!’

Then, Daisy took the boat. She tried to put it on the water, but it  from her hands. It went down in the water and got all . Daisy was sad. ‘It’s too difficult,’ she said.

Giraffes

Giraffes are the tallest animals in the world. bodies are brown and yellow. They have got very long necks and legs. They have got big eyes . Giraffes like living in places with of trees, but they don't live in the jungle or in the mountains. They don't eat meat. They eat leaves from tall trees. Giraffes walk slowly and run quickly, but they can't . Giraffes are beautiful animals and many people like seeing them the zoo or in pictures. 

Look at the pictures and read the story. Write some words to complete the sentences about the story. You can use 1, 2 or 3 words.

A snowman

On a cold morning, Lily woke up and looked out of her window. Everything was white! It snowed. She ran to her brother’s room.
'Tom, wake up! It’s snowing!' she shouted.
Tom jumped out of bed. 'Wow! Can we go outside and play?' he asked.
Their mother came into the room. 'There is no school today because there is snow,' she said.
'Hooray!' they both shouted.

Questions:

They put on coats, hats and scarves. Lily wore orange boots. Tom wore his new blue ones. They ran outside into the garden. 
'Let’s build a snowman!' said Lily.
They made three big snowballs and put one on top of the next. Tom ran inside to get a carrot for the snowman’s nose. Lily found two small rocks for the eyes and three for the mouth.
'He needs arms,' said Tom. They picked two sticks from under the tree and put them in. Lily put an old blue scarf around its neck.

'Let's drink some hot chocolate,' Mum said. They went inside, took off their wet clothes, and sat by the window. They drank hot chocolate. The snowman smiled at them from the garden. It was the best winter day.
