Dear David,
It's been ages since we last caught up, and I've got so much to share! This summer, I had an incredible time volunteering at our local animal shelter. I cared for these adorable animals, from feeding them to giving them soothing baths. I even helped tidy up their living spaces and played a part in finding them new, loving homes. I was so dedicated that I earned a certificate for my efforts!
I'm eager to hear about your summer adventures. You mentioned planning a trip to Hawaii, didn't you? How did your trip go? Write back soon. I can't wait to catch up and hear all about it!
Take care,
Anna

One sunny Sunday, young Timmy organized a delightful plan for a surprise visit to his grandma's cozy house, with presents that would warm her heart.
Timmy made his way to Grandma's cozy house, where he found her working on her garden. With a smile and a handful of vibrant flowers he had picked from their garden, Timmy approached her.
"Hi, Grandma! I brought you these flowers," he said with a grin.
Grandma's eyes sparkled with surprise and gratitude. "Oh, how lovely! Thank you, Timmy. These flowers are as beautiful as you are."
In addition to the flowers, Timmy gave Grandma a handmade card decorated with colorful drawings. Grandma's eyes welled up with tears of happiness. "You're the sweetest, Timmy," she said, giving him a warm hug.
They spent the day together in the garden. Timmy assisted Grandma in planting new flowers and watered her flowers and plants. They chatted about many things, and Timmy listened eagerly as Grandma shared stories from her own childhood.
As the day continued, Mom and Dad decided to visit Grandma too. They all enjoyed a delightful dinner together, laughing and sharing stories.
Just when they thought the day couldn't get any better, the power in their area suddenly went off. The darkness outside was filled with laughter and candlelight, turning an ordinary day into a memorable one.

One sunny afternoon, Emily and her younger brother, Daniel, decided to go to the park to fly their kites. Emily had a bright red kite, while Daniel had a vibrant blue one.
As they reached the park, Emily challenged Daniel, saying, "Let's see whose kite can fly the higher, Daniel!"
Daniel grinned and accepted the challenge, "You're on, Emily! Prepare to lose!"
They both started flying their kites, and soon their kites were soaring high into the sky. Emily's red kite danced gracefully, while Daniel's blue one swayed with equal enthusiasm.
But suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew through the park, causing their kites to tangle together. Emily gasped and said, "Oh no, Daniel! Our kites are stuck!"
Daniel chuckled, "Looks like it's a tie after all!" They both laughed and made jokes as they worked together to untangle their kites.
Just when they thought they were successful, the wind changed direction, and their kites got tangled again. This time, they grew tired of untangling the kites and decided it was best to head home.
"Maybe our kites want a break from the rivalry too," Emily said with a grin.
Daniel nodded in agreement, "I think you're right, Emily."
With their kites safely packed away, they headed home, still sharing laughter and sibling bonding.

The Ring of Fire is a horseshoe-shaped area surrounding the Pacific Ocean, known for its high volcanic and seismic activity. It's about 25,000 miles long and is home to around 75% of the world's active volcanoes, with countries such as Japan, Indonesia, and Chile situated within its boundaries. Earthquakes are common here because of the movement of tectonic plates beneath the Earth's surface. While it can be dangerous with frequent eruptions and tremors, it also forms stunning landscapes and geothermal wonders, like geysers and hot springs. People in this region even produce geothermal energy from volcanic activity.
What is NOT true about the Ring of Fire?
What is one benefit of the volcanic activity in the Ring of Fire?

Around 20,000 years ago, during an ice age, woolly mammoths roamed Europe, Asia, and North America. These giant creatures, about 13 feet tall, used their 15-foot tusks to dig for food beneath the snow. They had smaller ears than today's elephants to conserve heat and two layers of fur for insulation. They had a hump on their back, perhaps to store fat for energy during food shortages. The exact reasons for their extinction remain uncertain. Theories include excessive hunting by humans, changing climate conditions, or a combination of both.
Where did people find woolly mammoths?
How did woolly mammoths adapt to cold climates?

Space waste, or space debris, is a big problem in outer space. While there are about 2,000 active satellites orbiting Earth at the moment, there are also over 3,000 dead ones littering space. Space junk includes old rocket stages and broken spacecraft. All move around at high speeds and occasionally, collide with one another and cause even more debris. Such collisions pose risks to working satellites and upcoming space missions.
For example, in 2009, a collision between a Russian satellite and an American satellite created thousands of pieces of new debris. Scientists and engineers are trying to find ways to clean up space debris and prevent more collisions.
How many disused satellites are currently in space?
What is NOT mentioned as a result of space debris collisions?
