Tom,
We always taught you to be smarter than the next person, not necessarily more hard-working smarter. You are always intelligent, always thinking ahead; I know that even from the day I first taught you chess. I know you will have irritating people in your life and some stupid people; , I hope you will not sacrifice your integrity by making yourself look good at the expense of others. Remember the time we that old oak tree? It is one of my best memories. The time when you thought you couldn't jump off the big branch, I was proud of you when you left your fear behind and jumped; it set you up to do so much more. The time when you tried to swim the breadth of the pool, your face was a picture. I pray that you learned to be comfortable with yourself and learned to like yourself for and not let others manipulate you. You are always funny, always laughing, caring, and loyal. I love that about you.
I love you, always.
Your dad

Many plants in the wild have ways to protect themselves from . This means they have special features to stop animals. their inability to move, these plants use thorns, bad tastes, or even poisons. There are many theories how these defenses evolved. Does this mean they protect themselves from single species, or any other herbivore? Well, it on the species. For example, some plants producing a sticky sap. When animals try to eat them, they find that their mouths are full of this sap. This is a good strategy if main predator is small. Scientists have found that these defenses are very complex. Even though the methods are passive, it is amazing that plants spend their energy on protection.

In this part of my paper, I want to your attention to some surprising facts about the Chinese language. The research shows that the Chinese language has relatively simple grammar. French, German or English, Chinese has no verb tenses and no noun changes for gender or number. Chinese, you do not have to memorize different verb forms of "see", such as "saw" or "seen" — you remember is one word: "kan". Similarly, unlike English's "hat" and "hats", Chinese only has "mao". Chinese follows verb-object word order, like English, with the object after the verb.
The research also proves that there are quite a number of key terms with Mandarin Chinese, often used for topics like states, health, science, parties, inflation, and literature. The key point here is that many of these terms did not always exist in the language. These terms through translations of key concepts, especially modern ideas from the Western world. For example, concepts like "science" - "kēxué" or "democracy" - "mínzhǔ" were introduced to China, and new words had to be created to describe them. Therefore, when you are entering a different culture, you have opportunities to familiarize yourself with that culture's interaction with the modern world through these key concepts. In this case, it's important to remember that Mandarin is spoken by over 1 billion people worldwide, about one-fifth of the global population. Many students eager to understand Chinese culture learn Mandarin. comparatively easy, the language can be studied with enthusiasm and success. Studying Chinese literature bridges cultural gaps, helping people from other countries understand terms crucial for communication.

People's behavior during public events has changed significantly over , perhaps because views on have evolved and shifted. During a classical music concert today, for example, people do not clap until the musicians the entire composition from beginning to end. It would be hard to imagine the audience in the middle of a performance, as this would be seen as disruptive and disrespectful. It may as a surprise to many, however, that long ago, this is exactly what people did without any hesitation. The audience laughed loudly, clapped vigorously, and cheered enthusiastically for great moments and impressive . That was how people naturally showed their regard and appreciation a performer's skills and talent. One reason that people's behavior was so may be that in the past, classical music concerts were more like today's pop music shows in terms of audience interaction. Long ago, classical music was not thought to be so it is now.
