Joon stared at his suitcase. He knew what was inside each one. He had carefully packed all the items inside them. Joon, however, kept looking at the suitcases as if they contained unknown mysteries. He still had so many questions.
The suitcases were ready to go with Joon. They would be separated from him during the long flight. Afterwards, they would be with their owner in a new country.
During the past few months, Joon had tried to prepare himself for studying in England. He had learned everything about the place where he would spend the next year of his life. Still, he had questions.
When Joon looked at the suitcases, he was filled with excitement and curiosity. Looking around his bedroom, though, he felt other emotions. He was sad and a little scared about leaving his family and friends.
“Joon?” his mother called.
“Yes, Mom?” Joon replied.
Joon’s mother walked into his room, “We should leave for the airport now. It might take a while for you to check in at the airline desk. They’ll probably have a lot of questions since you’re flying alone.” She smiled at him. “Are you ready, son?”
Joon thought about all the research he did on England he thought about the e-mails he would get from his family and friends. Joon looked at his suitcases again. He was ready.

Some of the girls laughed, and nearly all of them clapped eagerly. But Juana was disappointed. She'd expected something better from her friend.
Then Tim stood up in front of the class.
“OK, I'm new,” he said. “But do you really care if I'm a boy or a girl? Do you want to vote for someone just because she's popular? Even though I'm new, I want our class to be the best. How? I have some ideas about that.”
Tim explained many new ideas for improving the class. Juana thought they were all really good ideas. The boys concurred. At the end of Tim's speech, the boys stood up and cheered.
When it came time to vote, Juana couldn't decide what to do. Brenda was her best friend. But Juana really thought Tim deserved to be president. If she voted for him, he might win.
"Your votes, please,” Mrs. Hamid requested.
She read each piece of paper and made marks on the board. In the end, there were eleven votes for Brenda and twelve votes for Tim.
“That's impossible!” Brenda shouted.
