There can be no doubt at all that the Internet has made a huge difference in our lives. However, most parents worry that their children spend too much time browsing the Internet or computer games, hardly ever doing anything else in their spare time. Naturally, parents want to know if these activities are harmful for their children or not. What should they do if their children spend hours staring  a computer screen?

Obviously, if children spend too much time absorbed in some games instead of doing their homework, then something is wrong. It is a good idea for parents and children to decide together how much they should use of the Internet, and for the child to promise that it won’t interfere with homework. But comfort indoors can't fully solve one problem: total isolation. During the months-long polar winter, the sun never rises at all, and some researchers describe feeling deeply exhausted and lonely in the endless darkness.

Despite that cost, scientists keep coming back. As the planet keeps warming, the data they collect at the bottom of the world may be exactly what humanity needs to understand what happens next.
