Skateboarding
by Rachel Martin, aged 11
I've practised skateboarding for 18 months now, and I was the youngest person in a street skateboarding competition last year. I spend my free time at my town's new skatepark - I rarely stay at home and watch TV.
Before the new skatepark was built this year, the nearest skatepark was in a town 10 km away. Some of my older friends went there, but my mum wouldn't let me go because I wasn't old enough. The only place to skate was on the pavements, but then I fell and injured my arm. I wasn't popular with pedestrians either, so I stopped! Nowadays, though, I can use the new skatepark in the evenings - it's got huge lights, so you can use it even at night.
We've got a skatepark at our school now, too. It keeps us fit! The school skatepark is dangerous for smaller children like my little brother, though, as the teenage students also use their rollerskates or ride their BMX bikes there. I guess they prefer it because the skatepark in town is pretty busy.
I've always found schoolwork easy, but skateboarding is hard! My favourite trick is jumping over boxes. Doing things like that really makes you concentrate, which is a challenge, but it's something I really enjoy. My older sister works as a skateboard instructor, so one day I'd like to be like her. It's unusual for girls to skate around here, so although I love it, it's a bit lonely. I'd like more girls to join in!
What does Rachel say about the skatepark at her school?
What does Rachel like about skateboarding?

Dear Douglas,
I just read your assignment about Martin Luther King, Jr. I enjoyed reading it, but I couldn’t stop thinking that it would have been better if you had provided more details about his work. You wrote a good summary about Martin Luther King, Jr.’s great achievements, but I couldn't find any of your thoughts on his life. I want you to consider adding your thoughts during the revision period, which lasts until next Friday. As you already know, I give extra points on revised draft, so this is your chance to earn more points for your grade. If you need any help, come and see me. Good luck!
Sincerely,
C. Chadwick

Read the following passage then choose the best answer to each question.
Books and reading are a very important part of education. If you go into someone's house in the modern world, they will usually have some sort of bookshelf full of books that they like to read. Some very educated or book-loving people have large rooms full of books.
Nowadays, you can have many books without needing a room to store them. The Internet is making it more efficient for people to read. Web sites now make it easy for people to buy books. Thousands of books are available online. You can buy used books or new books. Now you can even buy electronic books. The Kindle, released by the website Amazon, allows people to download books online and read them on the device. People can download hundreds of books at a time and put them on this small, handheld e-book reader.
The personal libraries of the past still look good and many people still like to have paper books, but e-book readers like the Kindle are changing things fast. Now people can carry huge libraries with them anywhere. People can read books for a lot cheaper as well. Books bought electronically are inexpensive because they do not have to be printed. They are stored in files and sold straight to the device. The Kindle and other reading devices are going to change book-buying and reading forever.
What would be the best title for the passage?
The author mentions all of the following EXCEPT
What do the Kindle and other e-book readers allow people to do?
In paragraph 3, the word "They" refers to
What are the Kindle and other reading devices going to do to reading?
