In the past, most people got their news from newspapers and magazines. They bought them every morning and read them with their coffee. However, this way of getting news is slowly disappearing. Today, people prefer modern forms of media. They use smartphones and computers to read news online. Websites like Facebook and Twitter have become popular sources of information. Many people also join online to discuss current events with others.

The biggest difference is speed. While can only give us yesterday's news, modern media provides information. When something important happens, we can know about it immediately through news apps and websites. However, not all online news is or true. Sometimes people share false information quickly. Traditional newspapers usually check their facts more carefully before publishing stories.

Both types of media have advantages, but modern forms are clearly winning the competition for readers' attention.

Read the following passage and choose the correct answer to each of the questions.

The members of my family have completely different opinions about media, and we often have interesting discussions about which sources are most reliable. My father believes that traditional print media like newspapers and magazines are still the most trustworthy because journalists check their facts carefully before publishing. However, my younger brother thinks that old-fashioned media is too slow, and he prefers getting his news from apps that provide up-to-the-minute updates about everything happening around the world.

Young people in our household definitely prefer digital platforms because they can access information instantly wherever they are. It's true that my brother has been spending hours on social media platforms this month, but he's also been following accounts that share educational content about science and technology. My mother has been exploring online forum discussions recently, and she enjoys participating in conversations with people who share similar interests in cooking and gardening.

I've been using various online resources extensively for my university research project about renewable energy sources. There are countless forums dedicated to environmental topics where experts share their knowledge freely. If you need specific facts about solar panels or wind turbines, you can easily find them in community forums that provide detailed and relevant answers from professionals in the field.

My father continues reading his daily newspaper every morning because it's been his routine for over thirty years. However, most people in our neighborhood have switched to digital news sources since they're more convenient and accessible. Sometimes he mentions news stories that the rest of us discussed weeks earlier, but we've already moved on to newer topics.

Despite our different media preferences, we all recognize that each type of media serves its own purpose, and we should respect everyone's choices about how they consume information.
