Galileo Galilei, an Italian scientist who lived around 350 years ago. He is often called the father of modern science because of his unique approach. Unlike other teachers before him, Galileo tested his ideas with experiments and made careful observations. Many famous scientists before him had based their beliefs on ideas that were accepted for hundreds of years without proof.

For instance, Galileo believed that light and heavy objects fall at the same speed. To prove this, he dropped objects of different weights from a tower and observed that they fell at the same rate.
