An interesting school project
This month, we're doing a project on unusual animals and my team got the Japanese Macaques, or as they are often called, snow monkeys. It was exciting to out so much about them.
These monkeys live at much lower temperatures than any other monkeys, feeding on a few plants while trying hard to stay warm. But what makes them so strange is their to pass on new ideas to each other, something discovered in a scientific study when a single snow monkey started washing her food in the ocean. Following this, after generations, every monkey was doing it.
People who are interested the Macaques often visit the Jigokudani Monkey Park in Jigokudani Valley, Japan. There the Macaques often have hot baths on a snowy winter's day. Well, this is not part of their typical . They have once again copied a single snow monkey who decided to jump into the hot spring water back in 1963 on a freezing cold day.

Learning to swim
Last month, I did something amazing, which I'd almost begun to think wasn't possible. l actually swam one length of the swimming pool! I know it doesn't seem like achievement because swimming is something that everyone seems to learn really easily. But there was just no way I could manage it. And it wasn't as if I hadn't tried. Apart all the lessons I had at school, I also swimming with Dad every week. But in spite of all the practice I was getting, I still wasn't to swim.
Then one day, when I thought Dad was holding me up in the water as usual, I suddenly realized - he wasn't! I was swimming on my own, without help! After that, I swam several lengths of the pool.
So if you're having trouble learning something, don't give . It will definitely happen one day!

A Fantastic Mind
Hayao Miyazaki was born in Tokyo on January 5, 1941. As a boy, he liked to read and draw cartoons. After graduating from university in 1963, Miyazaki joined the Toei Animation Company. At Toei, he worked on many animated movies, like the famous Puss in Boots. In 1984, he made Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, which was based on a comic book he wrote. Because this movie was so successful, Miyazaki was able to start his own animation company, Studio Ghibli.
One of Miyazaki’s most loved movies is My Neighbor Totoro, made in 1987. It is a children’s movie, but many adults like it, too. The movie is about two sisters who become friends with an enormous, supernatural animal named Totoro. It is a very warm-hearted story, with many fantastic characters such as Cat Bus, a cat that is also a bus. Miyazaki’s 2001 movie, Spirited Away, was even more popular than Totoro. In fact, it made more money than any other movie in Japanese history.
All of Miyazaki’s movies contain strange but charming people and creatures. Many of his stories happen in worlds that are different from ours. However, they still show his ideas about real life. He often points out how humans hurt the natural world. He thinks people should change how they live. Miyazaki’s movies combine fantasy and reality in an original way. This may be why so many people like his movies.
