A Worthwhile Challenge
Most people agree that learning to play a musical instrument is one of the most worthwhile things they have ever done but also one of the hardest. Many children are very when they first take up an instrument but don't realize how much practice will be involved. Sadly, they quickly start to lose interest as they find the technical skill increasingly difficult. If they feel they are not enough progress, young people often give up having lessons after two or three years. But those people have enough talent and determination and are willing to make efforts to reach a reasonable standard, can feel a strong sense of achievement.
Apart from a lifelong hobby and a valuable skill, playing an instrument for pleasure is also beneficial in less obvious ways. This is an effective way of reducing stress your brain is completely focused on the music, which means worrying about anything else is impossible.
Fill in each blank with ONE suitable word.
Getting healthier
I have quite a healthy life these days, but I wasn't always so good! A few months , I realized that I needed to change my habits. I was spending too much online and not eating well. I decided to do something about it.
The first thing I changed was my diet. My parents have always provided me healthy meals, but I often ate unhealthy snacks like crisps and sweets in between meals. I stopped doing this and immediately lost some weight. Then I started to do more exercise. of sitting at my laptop all evening, I went out for a short run. I ran a little further each week and feel so much better now! I also realized that I wasn't getting sleep because of staying up late surfing the internet. I've also decided to limit my time online. All this goes to show – anyone can change!

Read the passage and choose the correct answer to each of the questions.
The Singapore Science Centre is located on a six-hectare site in Jurong. At the center, we can discover the wonders of science and technology in a fun way. Clap your hands and colorful bulbs will light up. Start a wheel spinning and it will set off a fan churning. It is a place to answer our curiosity and capture our imagination.
The center features over four hundred exhibits covering topics like solar radiation, communication, electronics, mathematics, nuclear energy, and evolution. It aims to arouse interest in science and technology among us and the general public. The center is the first science one to be established in South East Asia. It was opened in 1977 and it now receives an average of one thousand, two hundred visitors a day. The exhibits can be found in four exhibition galleries. They are the Lobby, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Aviation. These exhibits are renewed annually so as to encourage visitors to make return visits to the center.
Instead of the usual “Hands off” notices found in exhibition halls, visitors are invited to touch and feel the exhibits, push the buttons, turn the cranks or pedals. This is an interesting way to learn science even if you hate the subject. A Discovery Centre was built for children between the ages of three and twelve. This new exhibition gallery was completed in 1985. Lately this year a stone-age exhibit was built. It shows us about animals and people which were extinct.
