The ideal breakfast, say scientists, is a glass of orange juice, a cup of coffee, and a bowl of cereal. People who start the day with a drink of vitamin C, a dose of caffeine, and their favorite cereal are happier and perform better the morning. Andy Smith, of the University of Bristol, said, "A study of 600 people who were asked to record their breakfast found that those who regularly ate cereal in the morning had a more positive mood compared with those who ate other foods or had no breakfast. Earlier research had shown that people whose performance was measured immediately after eating breakfast of any kind performed 10 percent better on test of remembering, speed of response and ability to , compared with those given only a cup of decaffeinated coffee." In further research, Professor Smith said that people who drank four cups of coffee a day performed more all day than those who drank less. He suggested that sensible employers should give out free coffee or tea.

Why Teens Need More Sleep Than You Think
Many parents complain that their teenage children stay up too late and refuse to wake up early, and they often think teens are simply lazy. However, scientists have found significant evidence that teenagers actually need more sleep than adults. The recommended amount is around nine hours each night, which is far more than most teens get.
Sleep researchers claim that the teenage body clock works differently from an adult's. During the teen years, the brain releases a chemical called melatonin much later in the evening. This means that most teens do not feel sleepy until around 11 p.m. Because of this natural change, asking a teenager to fall asleep at 9 p.m. is almost impossible.
The problem becomes worse when school starts early in the morning. A teenager who falls asleep at midnight and wakes up at 6 a.m. only gets six hours of rest. Over time, this builds up into what experts call "sleep debt." Students who carry considerable sleep debt often struggle to focus in class, and their test scores may drop.
Some schools in the United States have already changed their schedules so that students can sleep longer. They now start classes at 8:30 a.m. instead of 7:30 a.m. The results have been remarkable. Teachers report that students are more alert. Accident rates among teen drivers have also decreased.
Although technology is sometimes blamed, the real cause is biology. If parents understand this fact, they may stop arguing with their teenagers every morning. Teens are not lazy — their bodies are simply following a different clock.
According to the passage, how many hours of sleep do teens need?
Which statement about sleep debt is NOT correct?
