Read the following passage and choose the correct answer to each of the questions.
Many people say that what children learn in the classroom has little to do with real life. Homework, tests, and long lists of facts can feel far away from ordinary days spent playing games or spending time with friends. This link often goes unnoticed, especially when a lesson feels difficult or dull. But if you look more closely, school lessons and daily life are connected much more than they first appear.
Take mathematics, for example. Lessons about numbers might seem boring at first, but the same skills appear again and again outside the classroom. Working out how to share a pizza fairly between friends, keeping score during a football match, checking how much change you should get back from a shop, or deciding how to spend pocket money all use exactly the kind of thinking that maths lessons teach.
Reading and writing work in a similar way. Following the instructions for a new board game, understanding a recipe before baking, or writing a message to a friend all depend on skills first learned at school. Even science lessons, which can feel abstract, help explain everyday things such as why plants need sunlight or why the sky changes colour before it rains.
School also teaches skills that go beyond individual subjects. Group projects, for instance, ask students to listen to each other, share ideas, and solve problems together. These are exactly the same skills needed later on a sports team, in a school club, or simply when playing with a group of friends.
Of course, lessons do not always feel exciting or useful at the time, and some pupils find certain subjects more difficult to enjoy than others. However, this does not mean the knowledge is wasted. Often, it simply takes time, and a bit of imagination, to notice how classroom learning quietly shapes the way young people think, solve problems, and understand the world around them every single day.
In the first paragraph, the writer says that school lessons _____.
How can mathematical skills help children outside of school?
Why does the writer mention baking in the third paragraph?
The passage states that working on group projects teaches students to _____.
