Read the following passage and choose the correct answer to each of the questions.

For many years, movies have used real animals to make stories feel more exciting and true to life. Dogs, horses, and even bears have all played important roles on the big screen. But as computers have become more powerful, filmmakers now have another choice: creating animals digitally instead. So which is really better?

Uggie was a small Jack Russell terrier who starred in the 2011 film The Artist. He became famous almost overnight and even won several awards for his acting. His trainers say he was treated extremely well and lived a comfortable, happy life both during and after filming. Uggie shows that, with the right care, working in movies doesn't have to be bad for an animal.

Owls became hugely popular after appearing as Hedwig in the Harry Potter films. Suddenly, many people wanted to own a pet owl of their own. But owls are wild birds, not pets, and they need very special care. Sadly, some owners couldn't cope, and a number of owls ended up abandoned or in animal rescue centres. This shows that using real animals in films can cause problems that go far beyond the movie set itself.

Bart the Bear was one of Hollywood's most famous animal actors. This huge grizzly bear appeared in several major films and was said to be one of the highest-paid animals in the industry. Expert trainers looked after him closely, and he was known for being calm and gentle, even though he weighed over 700 kilograms. Still, some people ask whether such a powerful wild animal should really be kept in a film studio at all.

Research shows that audiences often feel a stronger emotional connection to real animals than to digital ones. This is probably why studios keep using them, despite the risks. However, as CGI technology keeps improving, more filmmakers may decide that a realistic digital animal is simply the safer, kinder choice.

What does the story of Uggie the dog show us?

  • Acting in movies can be a good experience for pets.
  • Jack Russell terriers are the easiest dogs to train.
  • Small dogs need more care than other animal actors.
  • Every animal in a movie will become very famous.

After the Harry Potter films came out, many people _____.

  • visited animal rescue centres to see the famous owls
  • learned how to look after wild birds very well
  • wanted to work as animal trainers on movie sets
  • bought wild birds that they could not care for

What concern does the writer mention about Bart the Bear?

  • He earned too much money for his film roles.
  • He was too dangerous for trainers to work with.
  • He should not have been kept in film studios.
  • He did not receive enough food for his size.

According to the text, filmmakers still use real animals because _____.

  • viewers feel a deeper connection to living creatures
  • computer technology is still too slow for movie making
  • digital animals cost too much money to create now
  • audiences refuse to watch films with computer-generated animals

What would be the best title for this passage?

  • Uggie the Dog: How Did He Become a Movie Star?
  • Animal Actors: How Are They Trained for Films?
  • Digital vs. Real Animals: Is CGI Now Better for Movies?
  • Animal Actors: Should Real Animals Be Used in Movies?
