Whales are sea animals that look like very big fish. While fish lay eggs, whales lay babies and their babies stay with them for a year or more. Whales are also from fish because they have to swim up to the top of the water to take air every 30 or 40 minutes.

There are two different kinds of whales: whales with teeth and whales without teeth. One kind of whale that doesn't have teeth is the Blue Whale. Blue Whales are the biggest animals in the world, they only eat very small sea animals.

Dolphins are a kind of whale with teeth. They eat fish and live in family groups. They learn quickly and people swim with dolphins never forget them because they are very clever, friendly, and beautiful. Whales have strange songs that they whistle or under the water. These songs are very loud. The whale is noisier than all other animals.

Read the article about Madagascar, an island country. Are the following sentences ‘Right’ or ‘Wrong’? If there is not enough information to answer ‘Right’ or ‘Wrong’, choose ‘Doesn’t say’.

Madagascar - When to go

Madagascar has two seasons, a warm, wet season from November to April, and a cooler dry season between May and October. However, different parts of the country have very different weather.

The east coast is hotter and wetter, with up to 4000mm of rainfall per year. In the rainy season, there are strong winds, and these can cause a lot of damage. Avoid visiting eastern Madagascar between January and March because the weather can make road travel very difficult. The dry season is cooler and more pleasant.

The high, central part of the country is much drier and cooler. About 1,400 mm of rain falls in the rainy season, with some thunderstorms, but the summer is usually sunny and dry, but it can be cold, especially in the mornings, with freezing showers, and it may snow in mountain areas above 2,400m, and even stay there for several days.

The west coast is the driest part of the island. Here, the winter months are pleasant with little rain, cooler temperatures, and blue skies. The summers can be extremely hot, especially in the southwest. This part of the country is semi-desert and only gets around 300mm of rain per year.

The central highlands receive less rainfall than the east coast annually.

Anna Kriss writes about her favorite restaurant.

Do you have a favorite restaurant that you go to with your family? I do! It's called Ben's Place, a new restaurant in my town. Not many people know about it yet, so it's never really busy - which is why we enjoy eating there. It costs more than some restaurants, but the food's good. I'm hoping to get there for my next birthday!

Ben's Place is easy to find, but it's not in the town square, with all the other restaurants and fast food cafes. Instead, it's on a road going out town, which always has lots of cars driving along with it. But you can usually find somewhere to park outside.

When you go into the restaurant, a waiter always comes to say hello, and another one chats with you as you walk to your table. The restaurant looks great inside, with lovely yellow walls. And there's often someone playing the piano, which is nice.

There are wonderful dishes on the menus. Lots of them are things we have at home. But when I'm at the restaurant, I never know which to have - they all sound good! Dad tries to give me advice, but I prefer to choose for myself.

Everything's delicious, especially the soups and the curries. My dad's a good cook, so I'm hoping one day soon he'll teach me to cook what we have at the restaurant. But my dishes will never be as good as the ones at Ben's Place!

  • doesn't usually know many dishes on it

  • It's as good as her dad's cooking.
  • The portions are too small for the price.
