Camels
Camels are interesting animals, which usually live in the desert. This is because they don't need to drink a lot and they can live without for two weeks. Also, they have fur over their ears and they can close their noses so that sand doesn't get in. Camels usually live for about 40 to 50 years but can live to be as old as 80. They can run fast as horses.
Camels don’t eat meat, but they eat desert plants. These big animals have long necks so that they can eat the leaves of tall trees. Camels can heavy things on their backs. People have used camels to carry them and their things across the deserts for centuries. People also use camels for their milk, wool and meat. You can see or ride on a camel if you go to a desert. Or you can also see them in zoos all over the world.

I have to read the late news on British television at 11 o'clock each evening. Every day, my job starts with the words, "This is a good time for a news programme because we can report the early news from America and the late news from Europe."
I still arrive home before midnight because the journey from the Television Centre to my home in north London only takes six minutes. My family is all asleep when I get in, but I usually make a drink of hot milk and read a book for about an hour. I always get up to have breakfast with my three children before they catch the school bus.
Then I take the newspapers and go back to bed for a short time. Later on, I go for a swim - newsreaders spend too much time sitting down! I sometimes go running. I've done the London Marathon twice. That's a race of over 40 kilometres. I finished each time, but I wasn't among the first!
I start work after lunch at two o'clock, when I go to my office. The rest of the day is spent planning the programme, but I always try to go home for an hour to see my children before they go to bed.

Callie Rice - ice dancer
Growing up, I was in an ice-skating club, and my friends and I did lots of competitions. When I was 18, I entered a big one in Italy, and I came first. The prize was a job as an ice dancer in a big show. That's how my career started.
One of the things I love about the shows is the beautiful clothes. The only trouble is that sometimes they're heavy and I get very hot. Also, I have to change lots of times in one show. The people who make the clothes are very clever - it's amazing how quickly they work!
Before the show starts, we get dressed, put our skates on, and wish each other good luck. Then, while I'm waiting to go on, I like to sit quietly by myself and think about what I'm going to do. The other skaters chat together or listen to music.
In the shows, we have to dance, sing, and also speak. For me, ice dancing is fine, but I'm not an actor. I'm always a bit scared I won't remember the words. I'm not bothered about falling - it doesn't usually happen. And I really enjoy joining in with all the songs.
People always ask me if I'm tired when each show finishes, but I love skating, so I never feel that way. I love listening to the people who came to watch - so excited as they leave, talking about what they've seen. That's when I'm really happy I chose ice dancing as a career.
