Read the following passage and choose the correct answer to each of the questions.
Today, most people think that having a two-day weekend is a completely natural part of life. However, this concept is actually a modern human invention. Before the nineteenth century, most people worked on traditional farms and followed the natural seasons rather than a strict clock. When the Industrial Revolution began, millions of people moved to growing cities to work in busy factories. These early factory employees often had to work extremely long hours, six or even seven days a week, leaving them exhausted.
Eventually, labor groups started fighting hard for better working conditions. They strongly demanded a shorter workweek so people could rest and spend time with their families. While these groups made some progress, the biggest change came from a famous American businessman named Henry Ford. In 1926, he made a surprising decision. He officially gave his car factory workers a five-day workweek, allowing them to have both Saturday and Sunday off without losing their pay.
Interestingly, Ford did not make this decision just because he wanted to be kind. He actually understood a clever economic secret. If his workers spent all their time inside a dark factory, they would never have enough free time to travel, go shopping, or buy his cars. By giving them a weekend, Ford successfully created a huge new group of middle-class customers. His creative idea proved that giving workers free time could actually help the national economy grow. Soon, other businesses copied his strategy, and the modern weekend was officially born.

For many decades, energy companies have drilled deep underground to extract fossil fuels that contribute to global pollution. Recently, however, geologists have focused on a fascinating alternative: Earth naturally produces its own clean hydrogen gas. This substance, often called "gold hydrogen," is generated through natural processes, such as when underground water reacts chemically with iron-rich rocks. Unlike coal or oil, using natural hydrogen can produce energy with minimal carbon emissions, as the primary byproduct of its combustion is harmless water vapor. If engineers can successfully tap into these vast underground reserves, this resource could provide a significant and steady power supply for modern cities. Currently, scientists are searching for viable global locations to build extraction facilities and refine new equipment. While solar and wind power are vital renewable sources, they are intermittent by nature. In contrast, geologic hydrogen could offer a reliable baseload energy supply available throughout the entire year. By shifting our focus toward this sustainable resource, humanity could make a substantial move in addressing the climate crisis. Furthermore, developing these hidden reserves has the potential to create new industries and support economic growth in various regions worldwide.
A chemical reaction between underground water and rocks produces gold hydrogen.
Engineers have already finished building specialized facilities to extract the natural gas.
Extracting underground hydrogen can sometimes cause small earthquakes in local areas.
Finding these underground reserves will provide new employment opportunities for people.
