Read the text and choose a correct answer to fill in the blank.

Books to provide knowledge and good books enrich the mind. By putting ourselves under the influence of a superior mind, we improve our mental powers. Through good books, we learn that people everywhere are the same, in all ages and in all classes. This knowledge improves our love of others and helps us to live in with them. We also understand that the world was made not only for man alone but for every creature can feel hunger and thirst, warmth and cold.

it may be possible for us to travel throughout the world and see things happening today, it is not possible for us to see things that happened in the past. But good books us to see not only the remote regions of the world today but also the world in which our ancestors live.

Read the following passage then choose the best answer to each question below.

A FORGOTTEN TALENT

Sixto Diaz Rodriguez is an American folk singer from Detroit, Michigan, who only recently has become world famous. He is more than 70 years old now. He made some records 40 years ago but they did not sell in America. He tried to do some concerts around the world but was not very successful. He stopped dreaming and worked for years as a manual labourer.

He still liked music as a hobby and played in bars and wrote some songs for his friends. He remained poor. In all this time, he didn't know that he became very famous, particularly in South Africa. His fans thought he was dead so nobody contacted him. So, did he win America's Got Talent? No, he didn't.

The story is strange. In 2012, a documentary about him called Searching for Sugar Man - by a Swedish director - won an Oscar and now finally he has found fame in America too. He is getting lots of money but what does he do? He gives most of it to other people! Rodriguez still lives in the same small Detroit house. He hasn't got a car, a computer or even a television.

His daughter Regan forced him to get a mobile phone a few years ago because she could never find him. He remains a quiet, modest man.
