Charlie Chaplin was in a very poor part of London. His father was a comedian and his mother worked a dancer and a singer. Neither of them was successful the family had very little money.

In 1620, about 150 European people, usually called Pilgrims today, moved to North America. Arriving at the beginning of a very hard winter, they could not find enough food to eat, so many of them died. However, Native Americans helped them to save food for the next winter.
