6/13/2023 5:47:00 PM

Read the text and choose the best answer.

There are two main types of energy: renewable and non-renewable. Some non-renewable energy sources are coal, nuclear power, oil, and natural gas. They are limited and help people produce a lot of power. However, they can make our earth warm and cause pollution.

Renewable energy sources are continuously available and do not run out. They are clean and can be used to produce electricity without harming the planet. The five major renewable energy resources are solar, wind, water (hydro energy), biomass (organic material from plants and animals), and geothermal (heat from the earth). However, they have some limitations. The sun rises each day, but its ability to generate power is limited in cloudy days. Power factories cannot increase renewable energy production when the demand rises, like on hot days when many people are using more air conditioners.

It's important for people to reduce our reliance on non-renewable sources and replace them with renewable ones. Some states, like California, are using energy storage, such as large batteries, to collect electricity from renewable sources when demand is low.

  • They are not used widely in cloudy days.
  • They always produce enough electricity.
  • They do not pollute the environment.
