Frank and Jack knew it was time to go inside. Their fingers felt icy, almost turning blue from making so many snowballs. They had built two big snowmen and had a fun snowball fight, but now they were tired and cold. School had been canceled because of a big snowstorm that left more than three inches of fresh snow. The streets and sidewalks were frozen, so the school bus couldn’t make it up the hill to their house. This meant the boys could stay home alone, as their parents had to go to work. The neighbors, the Packers, were also home in case the boys needed any help.
After coming inside, Frank and Jack quickly changed into dry clothes. It felt much better to be warm, but they were still shivering. Frank suggested making a fire to warm up. However, Jack thought it was a bad idea since they had promised their parents that they would stay safe. He was afraid the fire might get too big and cause trouble. Finally, they both agreed a fire wasn’t the best choice. Instead, two boys switched on the heater and got under warm blankets. Soon they felt cozy and warm.
Why didn't Frank and Jack go to school?
Why did Jack think making a fire was a bad idea?
How did the boys finally warm up after coming inside?

Dear Cathy,
Thank you for your application. I wanted to write this letter to you myself. I am excited to say that you have been accepted into our summer program. This year, we had more students apply than ever before. I was very impressed when I read your essay. You seem like the perfect girl for our program.
This summer, our program is going to be focusing on young writers. In your application, you said that you are very interested in writing poetry. When you join us on July 15, you should bring some of your writing so that we can work on editing it. If you'd like, you can send a sample to me now. I would be very happy to read it and give you some comments. That way, you can get an early start on the program.
I hope you have been enjoying your first week of vacation. I look forward to meeting you in person and reading more of your work. Have a wonderful week.
Sincerely,
Erica Lee

Obesity increases a person's risk of cancer, heart disease and other diseases. About 2,6 billion people globally - 38% of the world's population - are already overweight or obese. But on the current trends that is expected to rise to more than 4 billion people (51%) in 12 years' time, according to research by the World Obesity Federation.
Obesity among children and young people is likely to increase faster than that among adults. By 2035 it is expected to be at least double the rate seen in 2020 - it will rise by 100% among boys under 18, but go up even more sharply, by 125% among girls the same age.
Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Sweden are among the best prepared countries to deal with obesity while Niger, Nigeria, Somalia and Central African Republic are examples of the world's poorest countries that are the least prepared. Professor Louise Baur, the federation's president, says that the sharpest increases in obesity will be seen in low- and middle-income countries where lack of preparedness and resources will create a perfect storm that will negatively impact obese people the most.
The rising obesity globally is caused by factors such as climate changes, COVID restrictions and chemical pollutants, as well as the promotion of unhealthy foods. It is suggested that governments should restrict the marketing of foods that are high in fat, salt or sugar, and provide healthy food in schools.
